Flare Symptoms, Or An RA Flare, During Menstural Cycle Or PMS.

A myRAteam Member asked a question πŸ’

I have a question for anyone who may experience the same symptoms as I. When my menstrual cycle appears I have rheumatoid flare symptoms. My feet swell, I feel very tired, my hands and wrists are nearly disabled by the stiffness and pain. Do any of you experience those symptoms?

I’ve just realized a few cycles ago that my flare ups are horrible during my menstrual cycle. So bad that i have to dose up. I’ve said during that time the pain is as bad as labor pain. My back gets the worse of it. But my feet hurt bad too

I feel your pain !!! Yes it seems to be the worst at that time. Plus I think I'm starting the change of life . I just started Prednisone it has been a miracle drug for me !! If you have never tried it , maybe ask your doctor about it! Took my ankle swelling away, and swelling in my joints. They say I cannot stay on this long so I'm enjoying this much needed relief away from pain. I wish you many ,many pain free days . I've put you on my prayer list! Hope this kinda helps. Laurie

This is a common time for my flare ups as well! My hips and hands hurt. Glad I'm not the only one.

Yes, its pretty awful. I even run crazy fevers. Talk to doctor. They will recommend the IUD to help. No period equals less pain. I was told there is a dip in hormones that cause the pain to be worse.

Hello all! I wanted to update about my question. I had a full abdominal hysterectomy May 6th. I am in week 5 following surgery. So far, no flares and I am only managing residual damage. I still take Humira and Mobic. I refuse to take another Methotrexate shot! I’m feeling better and life is returning to normal. I will follow up later with more!
