Have Just Had My First Dose Of Mex. Am So Tired But Can't Sleep. Also Still In Pain. Help Please!
I have found splitting methotrexate works. 4 in the morning and 4 at night
If Mex is Methotrexate I had my first does in August four years ago but it was not until mid-December that year that I suddenly felt great. I was trepidatious about taking it but read up on RA and realized it was the golden standard of care. Once it kicked in I praised it to high heavens. Unfortunately I was one of the very very few people who experienced lung damage from the medicine almost a year after starting, and had to change to another medicine. Looking back, I would say being on Methotrexate did the most to alieviate issues from RA such as stiffness, pain, mobility, dry eye and fatigue with almost no down side. Yes, it is hard to get to sleep on it. So is my new medicine. I have used my phone to play white noise, gentle flute pieces, brown noise and books read with an Italian accent to get me back into Z land several time a night…but worth the up side of slowing down RA and giving me my life back.
Shey , methotrexate takes some time to start feeling the benefits. I have been on this medication for over 20 years. I do have stomach problems, so the Rheumatologist prescribed my dosage of .8 ml injections once a week. This has greatly cut down some of my stomach issues. I also take enbrel by sure click once a week so it is a routine now😄good luck!
I couldn't take the Methotrexate & the doctor put me on leflunomide 20mg & Enbrel shot once a week. Prednisone is an RA's best friend, but it does damage to your body. We just do the best we can & trust The LORD for the rest. Here's a prayer for all suffering today. Heavenly Father send your healing Spirit to all these people suffering from RA & other illnesses. Wrap your loving arms around them & comfort them. In the name of our Messiah Yeshua, Amen
Hi Shey,
I am sorry to be very late in responding to your concerns. I have been using methotrexate for 14 years and I am grateful that it manages my RA. Along with that, I take Lyrica and Plaquenil.. I am not pain free but am a whole lot better than I was at the beginning. I am hoping that by now you have found relief in the medication… perhaps you have even changed it. My sister has gone through many different meds and is now on Orencia which seem to be more successful. There are days that I take a Tylenol along with the rest. I know that “pain free” is a dream but the good days are a welcome respite. I wish you well in this journey.
