Why Does The Skin On My Thumb Feel Like I Burned It On Something?

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭
Essexville, MI

The burning feeling started about a week ago. My left wrist is very stiff and sore. Pain goes from my wrist down to my thumb. The skin on my thumb feels the same as a minor burn from an oven or something. I've not experienced this burn feeling anywhere else before so just curious. My neck has also started to stiffen up quite a bit and hard to turn it. When I move it I feel the pain in the back of my head. This sounds so silly I just have to ask if anyone else has experienced these sympoms. Both… read more

I received a call from my Dr.s office this afternoon and they said my cat scan came up clean. I did some research on my own and learned that the systems I've been having possibly comes from RA in my lower back on the right side. It has pinched my sciatic nerve which goes around the waist and down the groin area. It said it can cause extreme burning pain with deep sharp throbs in the groin area. That is exactly what I am experiencing. I told that to the nurse and she said she never heard of that but would mention it to the Dr. I had extreme burning on my back right side a year or so ago and the Dr. treated me for having shingles. But I never had a rash. I am thinking it was due to RA in my lower back. I don't have a RA Dr. and will be looking for one. I was surprised to learn that RA can cause the skin to burn so bad.

I started to experience severe burning in the groin are over two weeks ago. Also have deep sharp pain throbbing. Very difficult to walk. I had a cat scan yesterday and now waiting for the result. I think it's due to arthritis. My primary care Dr. doesn't have any answers for me and I feel I need to get a good arthritic Dr. I will post an update on my test results.

I'm sorry to hear more are suffering from this stupid burning sensation. Been 6 months sense I first posted about this and fortunately I haven't had the feeling since so there is hope it will go away ladies! I am on meth and remicade infusions now and doing very well. My numbers are all great too. I do have a lung nodule that is too small to biopsy so plan is to do a cat scan to see if it has grown. I wish you all good luck!
