Methotrexate
Have been on this drug for 4 months taking 12,5g every week also folic acid once a week, tramadol every day and steroid but am just so tired, the dr is going to move me to the next level 17.5 next month but the stiffness and swelling hasn't gone away...does it ever?? Not coping too well and also feeling down on a regular basis. Thank you for reading this .
I had a good response when I was on MTX but had to stop after a year due to side effects. Most doctors require that you at least try MTX before they move to biologics, so try and think of it as a necessary medical hurdle. It took me several years to get the right mix of meds- hang in there!
I’m so sorry. Please discuss all of this with your doctor. If the MTX isn’t giving you more relief, see if he will consider another treatment.
Hi Looks like a Biologic is needed. Must climb the Tier with insurance companys
I was on MTX for about 6 months. I experienced drug side effects ( extreme fatigue, nausea), and my overall clinical picture did not improve. It was a drug fail for me. My Rheumatologist said I needed to switch to something different. I’ve been on leflunomide since, and it’s worked very well. MTX is a great drug for many, but it doesn’t work for everyone.
Thanks all for your replies, am trying to distress myself by doing a hard jigsaw, found that it does keep my fingers working a bit better.i think its because my hands were my career and to lose the use of them comes very hard thank you again
