How Does The East Coast Weather Affect Your Flare Ups?
We live in California where the weather is always warm and dry. Considering relocating to North Carolina but worried about the cold and humidity.
This year we had a lot of rain for us and every time it was about to rain, I was in a lot of pain.
@KellyYostCurtis- the sweating is driving me crazy. I didn't know that was one of the symptoms of RA until I joined this site. Even in the cold, I sweat. Ugh!
I'm in New Hampshire but I find the humidity is what flares me up. I actually do a lot better in cold weather. Anytime I go to Florida I flare and bad
Lol you know N.C and VA are in the south. They say we are backwards but I've found a wonderful Rhemy. She listens and caring and she tries to solve your problems. If she can't do it she will refer you someone who can
Im from CT and I moved to North Carolina about two years ago thinking that it would do better for my pain, but it is TERRIBLE. I will be moving this year. The weather here is so very variable. Just this past week we had 65° one day, next day it was 45° then 19° at night and 55° and sunny the next and on and on. My body is just about in a constant flare, and besides that I have chronic migraines so that’s made them worse also... Furthermore and most importantly, the healthcare here is ‘difficult’. If you’re coming from CA as I came from CT, how they operate within patient care isn’t the same; biggest thing is there’s a huge lack of rheumatologists in the state. I go to Duke for my rheumatologist now and in the Raleigh area there are only 6 SO I had to wait 6 months to receive my initial appointment. As an established patient, I actually elect to see his nurse practitioner because he is so very sweet, takes the time out to converse with us as people, and is very thorough. You can tell there is ‘patient care fatigue’ with large hospital systems and doctors. I don’t mean to scare you or anything, but I’m being completely honest. I never knew... You may consider Virginia which has a different healthcare system more akin to Maryland, and different climate. Look up some stats on healthcare in the US since that’s so important to us! I was at first surprised to find the best healthcare (besides Hawaii and CA) are in the coldest states! Good luck!!
NC has long cold winters and it rains ALOT!!
