CBD As A Pain Aid?

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭
Saskatoon, SK

Hello,

My sister is a naturopath... She has been encouraging me to look towards cannabis as a pain relief and sleep aid. Not so much smoking it, but injesting it through edibles. She said she is going to try and make me a topical rub for my joints with CBD oil in it. Had anyone had any experience with this ? She thinks my RA meds are causing extra problems I don't need. Not sure how I feel !!

I find some of the posts on this thread quite fascinating. Several; posters clearly have done ZERO research regarding the effects of CBD on RA. Yes, CBD does address the symptoms of RA, but it does so by attacking RA at the cellular level WITHOUT side effect or DESTROYING your organs.

First, yes, I use edible cannabis...an extremely low amount to help with sleep and to take the edge off my RA pain. It works. Do not allow your sister to get you off your RA meds. Natural things, nutrition, and supplements can certainly help with the symptoms but NONE of them STOP the DAMAGE RA does and anyone who tells you differently is undereducated about the issue.

CBD is for inflammation & typically if you have inflammation, you have pain. I take 4 drops of CBD oil 4x/day under my tongue for the last 15 months. I have no inflammation & no longer have any pain. I have friends with Lupus who use THC for pain with great success. If I had pain, I would add THC to my regimen. I do not take biologics. I am in remission & my Rheumy & Acupuncuture Dr. monitor my inflammation levels. I was in VERY BAD SHAPE 15 months ago & the CBD has changed my life!

@A myRAteam Member. I live in a state where you can apply for and receive a medical THC license. It has to be renewed annually but it is pretty helpful for pain. I find the combo of CBD and THC works better for me then just CBD. You really have to use trial and error. To find what works best for you. Just remember this is only pain assistance. You still need to find a biologic that can help stop or slow down joint destruction

I have read that you will not feel the full effects of CBD for 90 days. You will feel your inflammation get better every day. I have also read that it is better to take a lower dose more frequently throughout the day verses 1 or 2 large doses. Since I have been using it for 15mos, it has made a MAJOR difference in my pain & inflammation. You must continue to use CBD to see the most benefit from it. .
