Methotrexate And Alcohol Who Does ? On My Fact Sheet It Says 2standard Drinks Per Week. .
Both my primary care physician and my rheumy tell me I'm dehydrated and that I should drink more...so I mix my gin and tonic in a taller glass. It works for me!
I would not drink any alcohol. These drugs for RD are metabolized by your liver and so is alcohol. You need your liver to survive not alcohol!!!!!!!!
CathieMacleod I work in the medical field, I also am a licensed caregiver for Medicinal Marijuana. There is a big stigmatism against it because it was labeled as a Hallucinogenic Drug that led to harsher drugs by the government. Well that is not true and is not toxic like alcohol, it is such a hybrid now that you can receive relief with out a high or receive relief with a little buzz, if you can't sleep they can fix that too. You do not need to smoke it they make edibles and will help you learn about the strains and what combination will work best for what you need help with. It took a lot in my state to get a patient covered and approved, I see it work. with amazing results. Soon pharmaceutical companies will be dispensing it, they are loosing too much money. I am passionate about patient relief so this is just my experience and views, if it is not something you are interested in then please disregard and don't hate me for it. Never waste 1 minute of life.
I think alcohol is fine in moderation like everything else. It can cheer you up and help you forget RA for a little while, just don't overdo it.
Nobody ever said anything to me about not drinking while on methotrexate, so I didn't ask. But then, I usually only have a couple of glasses of wine a night, or a gin and tonic, so I've never been a heavy drinker...although I have to admit that, if anything will drive you to drink, it's RA.
