Sleeping Position
Oh, let me count the different ways! I start on either side, rotate to my back, roll to the other side, then try to lay on my stomach (but that causes my hands to go to sleep). It's an exciting adventure! Hips are the real problem - no position keeps them from hurting. Sweet dreams!!
Wow kosjingles, you sound just like me. Some nights I don't sleep at all or only 2-4 hours. Other nights I sleep all night but it isn't restful because every position is painful.
Sleeping is tough if I can sleep more than 6 hours I wake up super stiff & sore. Also, pain wakes me up often, or numbness in my shoulders and hands. Can't win at losing.....
Tossing and turning is a given but here's an unusual tip....I wear long slippery fabric nightgowns so it's easier to turn over in bed. It really helps.
@A myRAteam Member isn't there comfort in knowing you are not alone with your RA symptoms? I find this website so very helpful and comforting to help me realize, I am not alone, I actually do feel/experience the same problems as others, and sadly, that I am not as bad as I COULD be - there are so many on here that are suffering much more than I am! But, yes, sleeping is a particular problem that I struggle with. I stay up extremely late (1:30 - 3:00 even knowing I have to work the next day) just to avoid the discomfort of sleeping. I often sleep in the recliner - I sleep very deep those times and wake up VERY stiff from not moving all night. It is also in the recliner that I have very elaborate dreams, I don't know why. RA is certainly an adventure!!
