Need Help Locating A Doctor In The Texas Panhandle? Lubbock Or Amarillo?
My current rheumatologist (Scheduled to see every 3 months for the past 18 months) came highly recommended. So highly that now he is not accepting new patients or SEEING his current patients. You see the PA and they will "discuss you condition". I feel totally abandoned! So frustrating. Really did like him but have only seen HIM twice- on the very first visit and one time when I insisted on seeing him. Have an appointment in June and dreading it! any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I see the MD every other time I go in, the PA in between. I am happy with the PA, he has more time to spend and I trust him. I'm an RN, so I have a good idea of what I need. The practice sends the PA's and NP's literally all over the world for additional training, and they all have outstanding resumes. The one I see was a special forces PA with tours in Iraq and Afganistan. He has done a lot of additional training in rheumatology. I also like my MD, but he works with 2PA's so his time is more limited. If I trusted the doctor, I would not have a problem seeing the PA, if I also trusted him.
Thank you, @A myRAteam Member! I'm just not satisfied with my current doctor's way of (not) seeing patience - ever! I am looking to change but doctors in my area seem to be scarce or not accepting new patients. Frustrated!
I've only seen my Rheumatologist on original visit a year ago, and a follow up about 6 weeks later, that was about 9 months ago, rang up his nurse a month ago as inflammation had started coming back due to cutting down on prednisone, methotrexate helping as I flared up when I got down to 12.5mg last time before I was on mx. Saw the nurse 2 weeks ago, she discussed problems with me then she spoke to him and got back to me to advise to try methotrexate injections instead of tablets to see if it will work better, have had 2 injections now but no improvement so will give it a month or two and if no improvement will need to contact her again. She was checking up on when I was last seen and was a bit shocked that it was 9 months. Will be interesting to see whether I get sent an appointment to see the Rheumy anytime soon, not expecting to....
Thanks for that @A myRAteam Member! One of my main problems with the PA is that she was hired 5 months ago and came from a Pediatric practice and admits, that's her only experience. I can't help but be concerned. Thanks for commenting.
