Members shared their varied experiences applying for a blue badge (UK disability parking permit), with eligibility and approval processes differing significantly by local authority. Several members reported success, while others noted that many councils require applicants to receive the mobility component of PIP (Personal Independence Payment), though some pointed out that a doctor's letter or demonstrating difficulty getting around can sometimes be enough even without PIP. A recurring theme was confusion and frustration over inconsistent criteria across regions, with some members awaiting telephone assessments and others sharing that their doctors were hesitant to support applications.

@A myRAteam Member. It's a badge which you can use in your car which allows you to park in disabled parking or in spaces closer to shops offices etc. Used in the UK. But it looks like every Local Authority has different eligibility criteria for those applying.

Hi @A myRAteam Member how did your assessment go. The local authority in my area won't accept an application unless you have the mobility element of PIP.
