Running

I'm training for a half Marathon, and have started to get pins and needles in one foot after about 3miles of running, I was wondering if anyone knows if this is ra related or just something I'm doing wrong whilst running?

Members responded to a question about pins and needles sensations during running, with several sharing that they experience similar symptoms in their feet and hands, often caused by RA-related nerve compression from nodules, loss of protective fat pads under the toes, or inflammation restricting circulation. Several members offered practical advice, including speaking with a rheumatologist to rule out tendonitis or other injuries, being cautious about running on numb feet to prevent further damage, and finding the right medication balance, with some runners successfully managing RA on methotrexate and hydroxychloroquine while others rely on endorphins from continued running to avoid medication altogether. A recurring theme was the determination to keep moving despite RA challenges, with members celebrating each other's athletic goals while acknowledging the reality of good days and bad days, trial and error with medications, and the importance of listening to your body while staying active.

My brother has had mild RA for 20 years. He was always a runner and has finished a couple marathons. Because he continued to run he us avoiding meds. Says endorphins work better. He does get pins and needles and some stiffness in his feet and hands. Yeah prednisone makes me feel much better and have more energy but it also destroyed much of the cartilage in my joints and caused considerable weight gain. I already have hip replacement, now being told I need new knees.
Good luck. Hope you are able to do your run

HIiiii half marathon what a girl!!! I have that under my feet when i walk, and for me atleast it is the lack of the bursa (fat pillow under your toes)that goes away due to RA, and that is a normal bieffect of the RA in feet. So everytime i walk or just put a little pressure on it the tingeling/needle feeling comes.
But in your case it can also be the start of tendonitis shinbone or something, as i dont know excact where you have the pain i cant say more. And i just state this cause i worked with top athletes for 5 years as an acupuncturist and saw that alot. Good luck to you to
