I Have A Question About Some Symptoms I'm Experiencing At The Same Time As A Flare

Hello, I called my rheumy's office today left a detailed v/m message about what I have going on. Called a second time and she was supppsedly going to be paged - never heard back. ☹️️

I have been dealing with RA complications and am not sure of the best course of action. My first major flare up since starting methotrexate in July (20 mg/week) started on Dec. 20. I began a short course of Prendisone (Dr. previously prescribed for these situations) -- 1x/day (10 mg) for 7 days. On the 7th day, I… read more

I agree. See you doctor and ask about a referral for a new rheumy. I get rashes and ulcers in my mouth when my lupus is flaring badly. You might want to have your doctor run some tests for lupus and other auto-immune diseases. I have both SLE and RA, and other things. The prednisone does keep things somewhat under control much of the time. It's best to rule other things out so you know for sure what you're dealing with. Keep us posted.

My doc switched from Folic Acid to Leucovorin and all those kinds of symptoms went away. I had unexplained rashes and mouth sores.

No call back? Find a new Dr. Methotrexate can cause mouth sores. Not to demanding, Chronic pain is a true bummer! And so hard to live with.

My doctor had to double my folate and then the sores in my mouth disappeared. Also, I get a rash toward the end of the week.

Glad to hear you have given that rheymy the walking papers. It's a pain to start with a new doc, but hopefully you will find one who will listen and become a team with you and your treatment. I used to be rather famous for poutting doctors in their places. Now I write a blog to try and help others deal with their doctors and become their own healthcare advocates.

Keep us posted.
