I would venture to guess that most Dr.'s have zero knowledge of the powers of medical marijuana. They just want to write you a prescription for a biologic & make you go away. I had to do my own research to make a decision to use it. I have also read that juicing the leaves of a high content CBD plants is extremely effective against RA. You do not get the psychoactive effects until you heat the plant and/or smoke it.

I have a medical marijuana recommendation. My primary and Rheumatologist both recommended because I'm unable to take opiates for pain. And frankly I'm really tired of all the stuff that interacts with my liver.

It's been incredibly helpful for my pain. And even more so for my sleep!

I agree with all of you. I never did drugs either growing up and thought it was nasty when others did it around me. Now since the RA and immense pain, I am questioning its validity in helping with pain management. The doctors I go to here in Mass are not pro for its use but they also don't give me anything stronger than Tramadol for pain. It's very limiting and most of the time non-effective.

Hi, thank you for bringing this question up. I've been diagnosed with RA for 5 years now and it's just got progressively worse. The pain is sometimes intolerable but both my RA dr and pain clinic doctor will only treat me with Tramadol. While it helps when the pain isn't too extreme, it does nothing when it is unbearable. It seems all the doctors are afraid of opiodes now and I think the marijuana issue as well.

@A myRAteam Member I'm one of those people who never did drugs growing up. Pre-RA/spondy/fibro/MPS I'd engage in social drinking, but have a history of liver problems (I don't metabolize drugs well at all) so I abstain. It's the reason I can't take opiates for pain.

So naturally being in constant pain sent me off on a search for relief that I could tolerate. I'm pretty passionate about researching medications (retired nurse) before I use them. I want to know when, how, why before I use. For me, medical marijuana is an answer to prayer.
