Gastritis
Anyone have experience with RA and gastritis? Currently in ER with the gastritis diagnosis. The physicians assistant is trying to tell me there is no relationship that this is a random not related event. I have only been dx with RA for a few months and still working meds out. I'm definately not controlled.
Anyone with thoughts?
I actually haven't been taking an anti inflammatory. Was on mobic months ago but it did nothing. I just added plaquenel. The ER dismissed the connection but I think there is one.
Methotrexate pills and antiinflammatory medications are very hard on your stomach lining. You need to ask if you should take you antiinflammatory medication. Also Methotrexate can be changed to an injectable. When you get out of the ER contact your primary and rheumotologist after the holiday. I have suffered with esophagitis for years but it runs in my family.
But so can may other foods, drinks and meds. It may be unrelated to RA or MTX. Listen to what they say, take advice then contact your Rheumy people after the weekend.
If the physician is not a specialist in rheumatology, what can he/she possibly know about what other ailments, or problems RA can cause?? That is why they have rheumatologists!!! Some doctors will say anything to keep from being wrong or lacking any knowledge about things. one can research things about RA and find out for themselves, and then you can tell that doctor to go to that website!!!! (just kidding)
Have you taken prednisone for your RA? It will cause heartburn and gastritis if you take long enough.
