How do you guys afford your medications? I have no insurance and I'm a little worried about the price tag.

Have you tried the Affordable Care Marketplace? I work in the health industry. If you don't have insurance offered at work then you can shop there. Also, have you tried Medicaid? It's based on income. New laws are in place and should start soon that will cover people it hasn't covered before. These are options that weren't there prior to the Affordable Care Act. Finally, contact the pharmaceutical companies. Most have a prescription assistance program that can assist or cover the entirety of the prescription costs. It's also based on income so be prepared to have to submit proof of income. Also, speak with your doctors, they usually have samples on hand to cover you until you get started. It's all a process but good luck to you.

@ Verona...here in Canada our tax is 12 % not 30% . In Alberta there isn't any tax. And our universities cost a ton less than US universities to attend. I've had children attend univ. in both countries.

That's affordable care. I still think you should have access to medical care no matter what. I can understand about some of these people who want face lifts because they want to look young not being covered, but when you have conditions that make you unable to participate in life that's a different story. Most of the people who argue against this have no idea what medical care cost even if you have insurance. If other countries can do why can't USA.

That's the key....income guidelines. My problem is we make too much for state or other help, but not enough to cover the expense on alot of the drugs or Obama care. They wanted $868 a month for two of us with a $10,000 deductible. So...before insurance would kick in each year I would have had to pay almost $20,000 out of pocket each year ! Not happening.

We are so lucky in the UK. medication from the hospital is free under the National Health Service. Medication prescribed by the GP has a nominal charge in England but is free in Wales. My heart goes out to you I couldn't afford to pay for all the meds I take. Some one on here a while ago was talking about drug trials? Not sure what it entails but may be worth asking the question! Good luck
