Has anyone applied for disability using RA or any auto immune disease as their medical condition?

If you got approved, how long did you have to wait?

Yes, I'm on disability. It took 2 years. Make sure you have a attorney who specializes only in disability.

I was on short-term disability through my employer for 6months. When I couldn't return after 6 months I lost my job but was given long term disability. Cigna required me to file for SSD. I did so immediately and was denied twice because I hadn't been unemployed for at least 12 months yet. I'm now waiting for a hearing......which in Florida, will take at least a year. Cigna has provided me with representation at no charge, because when I get approved, they will be reimbursed for any over payment they made. My condition hasn't improved much and I'm still working on a med that helps, so I'm hoping to b3g e approved at my hearing. I went on STD Sep 2014. Lost job and started LTD Mar 2015. I applied for SSD Jan 2015 because I knew I wasn't returning to work. I was denied in May 2015 appealed right away and denied again Jul 2015. ( 12 months off wasn't until Sep 2015) fortunately I'm still receiving LTD. Cigna has only checked my status recently when I reached a year on LTD......as they know
I'm waiting for a hearing.

Be prepared though not one dr would state that I'm disabled or stand behind me in court or fill out any paperwork about it. Good luck
