Anyone Try Additional Med's With Enbrel?

I've had JRA since I was 11 yrs old. I can't remember all the medication I've been on but it's a lot. Most medications stopped working after a few months or a year or two. Ive been on Enbrel since 2008. I'm on a weekly 50mg autoinjections. It has worked wonders for me. Been able to live with little to no pain. As always the pain or flare ups come and go if I've pushed myself a little too much with activities. Only the last 6 months I've notice more flare ups. In November my doctor added… read more

Trust your instincts. If you feel better without it don't take it. Methotrexate is a very strong medication. I would suggest implementing some dietary & lifestyle changes before adding more medication. Medicine is not an exact science - it is mostly a guessing game. We are the guinea pigs. Why don't docs rx dietary or lifestyle changes? Many of the answers to resolving some of these issues are easier than we think, just not as well advertised as big Pharma. Take charge of your life. You already know what is best for you. Wishing you well.

I did Enbrel fir 5 good years alone and it worked great! It started to not be as effective so methotrexate was added and low dose prednisone. I came down with breast cancer and had to stop all treatments for almost 2 years. When I had to go back to Enbrel my RA doctor said the methotrexate had nothing to do with me getting cancer but she did not put me back on the methotrexate! The Enbrel stopped working and I've tried almost everything now I'm on remicade infusions which doesn't seem to be working and my doctor wants me to go back to using methotrexate again. I'm afraid it will cause cancer again because I feel it was some of the reason I got it regardless of what they say. Sometimes you gotta go with your gut and have a say with your treatments!! I wish you luck!

Perhaps add probiotics. I consume at least two servings of fermented veggies every day. I have a Chinese fermentation jar that I got on Amazon. We make Kimchee, pickled okra, carrots, cauliflower and others. Can't promise it will help the RA but it is always a good idea to promote gut health. And making people pickled vegies is easy and inexpensive. Takes about a week (or longer if you desire a more sour pickle)🤍💛🤍.

being tired is an issue more if I'm having a flair up but this was more then that. I would have stayed with it if there was a change in the inflammation, however, no change in the RA.
Thank you the add.

@A myRAteam Member I'm on both Enbrel and Mtx on the moment and it is going okay. Inflamation is low, but I do have a lot of difficulty with being tired with 'low batteries' all the time. Don't know if it is the meds fault though, because this is how I've been since I've got RA ( also in my teens like you ). Would you mind if I ad you to my team?
