Rash

I was just diagnosed with RA. I'm not on a treatment plan yet. I go back to dr next week. I have a horrible rash that flares up at times on both arms. I thought maybe psoriasis but I've heard there's a rheumatoid rash. It's so itchy and painful. Any one else have this? Also my vitamin d is off the charts low.

I have had a rash on and off on my right forearm for 6 months now. I was just diagnosed with RA in July. The only time the rash goes away is when I'm on prednisone, which unfortunately has been fairly frequently over the past 6 months. However, after a week or two off the steroids, the hive-like rash comes back.

I had many flare up of hives for years prior to diagnosis also. Once, I even had 2 get a couple of steroid shots in the ER in the middle of the night while covered in ice packs. I have many scars on my legs now. Do you also have scars or did it clear completely?

I have had Psoriasis off and on for years. Sometimes it was unbearable. I also have RA. It has lessened over time because many of the RA drugs also treat Psoriasis. Many people who have one autoimmune problem have another. Hope your new treatment plan will help with both your health issues. Good luck!

When I had my first major flare it started with a bad rash on my hands, elbows, and sometimes various other places. Then my joint issues started. The worst rashes were on my most swollen joints. I thought it might be psoriasis but I had a biopsy done and was told it was eczema. I was also very deficit in Vit D (I still am despite supplements), B-12, Iron, and a few others. Once my deficiencies started to get better and the RA meds started to help with the swelling my rashes started to go away. I still have some on my elbows almost a year later but for the most part it's cleared up. My rheumatologist said it was definitely related to my RA. I used coconut oil on mine in addition to prescription steroid cream both of which seemed to help, but you can only use the steroid cream for a limited time because it thins your skin. Good luck!
