Control Of Inflammation

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭

I have gained 20 pounds in the 10 weeks on MTX and Prednisone . Does anyone have an alternative to steroids that will control the inflammation and pain? My Rhematoligist sad no but I don't believe her. (HELP)

I take turmeric and boswellia (Indian frankincense) I only take prednisone every 3rd day (5 mg). I am trying to get off of it since it keeps me awake ALL the time. I only sleep 2-3 hours a day when taking it. I am going off of it as soon as possible. I also take ibuprofen which helps. I take 800 mg 2-3 times a day depending on the weather. I would check with your doctor or pharmacist about possible drug interactions since I don't know what all you take. I take methyltrexate and recently started on Humira. It seems to be helping, but it does sting a little.

I just remember having read that some doctors use gold shots. I looked for this for you. I hope it helps and you get the treatment you need.

I'm not sure why your doc would say that.. Yes for extreme inflammation pred works prob best but you could do mythelprednisone or there are many diff rx anti inflammatory NSAIDs
