Members openly discussed their experiences with medical marijuana for rheumatoid arthritis pain management, with many sharing that various forms including oils, edibles, salves, and smoking have helped them reduce pain, improve sleep, and decrease reliance on opiates. Several members highlighted practical concerns around legality across different states and countries, drug testing requirements from pain management doctors, and finding the right delivery method that works for their body without unwanted side effects like rapid heartbeat or drowsiness. A recurring theme was the importance of honest communication with doctors about marijuana use, the frustration with outdated stigmas and limited research, and the hope that broader legalization will give people safer alternatives to prescription pain medications.

Edibles are better due to the long acting cbd and route.

Not much rigorous research into marijuana for RA (due to restrictions on researching by federal drug laws). What little there is is not very promising. But anecdotal evidence suggests some people find it beneficial. You'd just have to see for yourself, I think. Doesn't have to be smoked, though...oils or edibles are available. And there are formulas that don't make you "high" at all.

@A myRAteam Member it does help so much. That stigma attached to it really is a shame. People need to realize how helpful it can be. Would cut down a number of ppl in prison and no more need to be smuggled in!

I was there this morning and totally blanked on asking my pain doc about the oils etc, so I guess this is my month to be able to smoke. I go back in January, get the first urinalysis of the year and a copy of the new contract. I will look to see if the wording specifies MJ or not. Thanks and yes no one can know if they've not got it as it is far more painful than we can explain. Thanks and hope u have a great day.

My urinalysis is done by pain mgmt twice a year. I would still be hesitant the rest of the year "just in case" they put an extra test in. I've been with them for many years, so I have only ever had one at the first of the year and a second in July. I've been considering asking the doctor about the topicals to see if I am able to use them. Great topic and posts here!
