Scleroderma Or Sjogrens?

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭

It seems RA may be giving more of its gifts than before. I have often had flares in my jaw, now the area is swollen, plus I have been having acid reflux even if the only thing I had was water. Itch eyes, Reynauds is getting worse. Also on the outer ear just under the outside bend I have been have dry rough skin which is now splitting in spots. Does anyone have these other "gifts" and how did it start with you? See my Rheumatologist on the 23rd but this is really bothering me tonight for some… read more

Hi, I have RA in my left jaw terribly. To the point where I hold my jaw open at all times in a relaxed position. My teeth won't line up properly from it. It hurts... 😔 I have it in my clavicles as well. I also have PSA with no skin involvement, but terrible spine pain. I just started Humira 3 weeks ago.

Thanks the Mayo Clinic site should a lot of my newer symptoms are like scleraderma and a couple like Sjrogens. I have FM also with RA and I've been more fatigued than ever lately. I have had Reynauds since I was young but that has been worse also. Just frustrating because I thought that at least my RA had been limited to outer area like the joints and nodule. Love (hate) RA, u never know if it will give something new....thanks for your reply.

As a new member to the site , I put in scleroderma and came up with you ! For the last 3 years my doctors have been trying to decide if I have it or not. It's quite hard to find out anything, apart from the R A I have Reynauds quite badly in my hands and feet, the medication I think helps, on a really cold day though I have my doubts. I have terrible acid reflux, and problems breathing, have you been diagnosed with scleroderma and if so what treatment do you have ?

I get acid reflux like you said even from water. It's terrible but my rheumy put me on a generic version of Nexium and its wonderful. As long as I take my one pill everyday, there is not even a hint of acid reflux but miss it one day and oh wow does it come back with a vengeance.

See a neurologist about your jaw, you could have trigeminal neuralgia, that's what I found out ....the hard way lol
