I have had a diagnosis of fibromyalgia since the early 90's. Then I got diagnosed with RA 2012. i mostly took an anti-inflammatory med called Lodine for years. It helped somewhat. But walking a 1/2 hour a day helped alot too. The more I sat around the worse I felt. When I was on prednisone it helped my fibro. also. When I'm on Methotrexate only, my Fibro. hurts quite alot.

I have both. Current treatment of diclofenac, methotrexate, folic acid and Plaquenil for RA and Savella and Lyrica for Fibro. All this is a lot I know, but for the first time in 3 yrs I feel almost like myself again.

I, too, have been diagnosed with both. i have even put on gabapentin with only made me lose my vocabulary and imipramine . Neither helped bit the imipramine helps with sleep!

I also have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia as well a few months ago. The doctor prescribed Cymbalta (you can also use Lyrica which is too expensive for me). The fibromyalgia lifted like a cloud within a few days after starting the meds. I was so relieved!!!

Being completely honest I am down right scared of being dx with fibro.
I know that it is a medically recognized disease. But lots of people including myself have preconceived notions about fibro.
In fact the very first rhuemy I went to (once) btw suggested it and I was not thrilled not just because of what I thought but also her attitude about it.
But I sometimes wonder if I have more going on than the two autoimmune disease I have.
Here is part of how that convo went I knew I tested pos rf cup anti cop.
She though there was no way at my age that would be the dx.. When she examined me she reported no findings of fibro but included her theroy that because I had take 1 5/500 vicodin it would have skewed the results! Seriously my hand looked broken but yes one vicodin totally took care of my pain.. Not!
I want to make clear to everyone on here I am in no way belittling fibro, but the public at large has many misconceptions and I already have a hard time with them believing in RA !
