White Blood Cell Count Falling (Leukopenia)
In April my rheumy added Arava to my meds enbrel, lodine. At the time I was experiencing one of the worst flares I've ever had- tired, shoulder frozen, etc. Within weeks I was feeling normal again. In May my white count dropped to 2.4. I was taken off Arava with repeat labs in June when the white count popped up to 3.6. In July my count dropped to 2.3. My dr wants me to repeat labs in 3 weeks. I had excellent results with Enbrel for over a year. But I started having serious infections, cellulitis in my leg. (I have lymphedema and prone to infections). My white count fell to .8. I am now on Orencia infusions and Celebrex. I also take monthly B12 shots to keep the white count up. My biggest problem is constant fatigue and insomnia.
Please check with your doctor. Let him/her know any and all supplements you are taking. They can interact with your other medications. It would be great if you could discuss these supplements with your rheumy or your GP.
@LeslieLawton- Sorry to hear about shoulder and back involvement :( I can somewhat relate my shoulder froze last winter- pain was like nothing I have ever experienced
Yes I am. I have fewer flare ups, and less severe. Only recently added Celebrex for the persistent shoulder ache. A recent X-ray shows RA in the back of the neck. I'm suppose to go for another MRI and see a neck specialist.
