Members who were diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in their early thirties shared that their symptoms were often mild at first but progressively worsened with age, becoming severe by their fifties and sixties. Several members described their coping strategies, including staying active, maintaining a balanced diet, never going off prescribed medications, using pain relief like ibuprofen and Vicodin during flares, and applying ice packs or heat treatments as needed. A recurring theme was the importance of staying positive despite the challenges, with many members also noting the common occurrence of Raynaud's syndrome, which causes fingers to become painfully cold and numb, and can be managed by running warm water over hands and wearing compression gloves.

Sorry, I'm 30 years older than you, but I've had RA since I was close to your age. Some good ways to cope are staying active! And a well balanced diet. And don't go off your meds. (I've done that several times, it's painful!!😖

I had this bad in all fingers 2 months before the RA kicked in and I was diagnosed. It sounds like what I had, Raynaud Syndrome. Now that I'm on the right medications it doesn't do it as often. Cold and stress will trigger my fingers. I have to run them under warm tap water (sometimes a couple of minutes) before the circulation will come back. Raynaud is pretty common in the cold midwest. Gloves help too.

I've not been diagnosed with Reynaud's but I think I have it. In the winter, my hands and feet get very cold and sometime, my fingers turn blue. I am not on medication, but I run warm water over my hands frequently.
